The Environment Quality Monitoring of Taoyuan County (2010)

  This project focuses on monitoring the noise levels, river water and ground water qualities of Taoyuan County to understand the varying trend of the monitored analytes. The trends of the variations were analyzed and reviewed to provide the Environmental Protection Office a reference for future regulations.   Noise monitoring results of 2010 indicate that four stations, Forestry Bureau Fu Hsin office, Hsin Wu Elementary School, Hu Tou Mountain Park and Wu Lin High School, exceeded the regulatory levels most frequently. The noises were caused by the activities of the general public, students, broadcasting facilities, birds and traffic.   The analytical results of three military reserved wells and thirty-two regular monitoring wells indicated that the proportion of the wells that exceeded the type II ground water monitoring standards is 18/35. The analytes exceeding standards were ammonia nitrogen (11 out of 70), iron (13 out of 70) and manganese (24 out of 70).    The analytical results of seventeen monitoring stations for the rivers indicated that most river water bodies were moderately polluted. The analytes that exceeded the Class C internal surface water quality standards were pH (1 out of 24), dissolved oxygen (3 out of 24), coliform group (24 out of 24), suspended solids (1 out of 24), biological oxygen demand (20 out of 24), ammonia nitrogen (24 out of 24). The analytes that exceeded the environmental standards were copper (25 out of 68) and manganese (59 out of 68). The monitoring stations that were found with copper exceeding the environmental standards were Tien Liao Bridge of Nan Gang River, Wu Ching and Nei Jyun Bridges of Hsin Jie River, Sha Jyun Bridge of Pu Hsin River, Chung Li rest area and Chung Fu Bridge of Huang Chian River.   The result of one reservoir indicated that all analytes met the Class B internal surface water quality standards and environmental standards.
